Gen Generic Social Media Reference

Use these quick checklists to keep our branding tight across platforms. Tailor the comedic or AI-friendly copy to each platform’s vibe.


1. Pinterest

  • Recommended Image Aspect Ratio: 2:3 (e.g., 1000 x 1500 pixels)
  • Pin Descriptions:
    • Mix subtle humor and keywords (e.g., “Retro-inspired T-shirt design—because we’re ironically serious about style.”)
    • Keep descriptions around 100-200 characters if possible.
  • Board Organization:
    • Group similar products (Mugs, Tees, Kids’ Items, AI-inspired, etc.).
    • Include a short, punchy board description (5-10 words) that hints at humor or brand values.
  • Pin Frequency: Aim for consistency—pin a few new items or blog posts weekly.

2. Facebook

  • Profile & Cover Photo Specs:
    • Cover Photo: 820 x 312 px
    • Profile Photo: 180 x 180 px (displays as 170 x 170 on desktop)
  • Post Content:
    • Short text is best; keep comedic lines or subtle satire within 1-2 sentences.
    • Link to product pages or blog posts with a casual CTA (e.g., “See how we messed this up again, because transparency, right?”).
  • Ad Image Specs (If You Run Ads):
    • Recommended size: 1080 x 1080 px (1:1 aspect ratio)
    • Keep text under 20% of the image for best results.
  • Posting Frequency: 2-3 times a week, or whatever cadence fits your schedule. Consistency > quantity.

3. Instagram

  • Image Dimensions:
    • Square posts: 1080 x 1080 px
    • Portrait posts: 1080 x 1350 px (ideal for vertical scroll impact)
    • Stories: 1080 x 1920 px
  • Captions:
    • Short, witty, and brand-consistent. Example: “We’re not marketing to you…okay, maybe we are.”
    • Use relevant hashtags (#GenGeneric, #AIish, #SatireSells, #BoycottBoring, etc.).
  • Stories & Reels:
    • Behind-the-scenes design peeks, comedic commentary on AI or marketing.
    • Short is sweet—aim for 15–30 seconds per reel/story segment.
  • Posting Frequency: Aim for 3-5 posts per week, plus stories/reels sprinkled in.

4. Twitter (X) / TikTok (Optional)

  • Twitter (X) Basics:
    • Image size (timeline): 1200 x 675 px
    • Keep tweets comedic, concise, and teasing links to new merch/blog posts.
    • Leverage hashtags but don’t overdo it—1 or 2 is enough.
  • TikTok Basics:
    • Vertical video: 1080 x 1920 px
    • Short comedic sketches or design reveals (10–15 seconds usually performs well).
    • Balance humor with quick glimpses of your product “in the wild.”

5. General Tips

  • Brand Voice Consistency: Maintain that sly, self-deprecating humor in all captions, descriptions, and imagery.
  • Call to Action (CTA): Keep it playful and transparent. Instead of “Buy now,” try: “We won’t beg you to buy…(well, maybe a little).”
  • Testing & Iteration: Experiment with different comedic lines, watch engagement, and adjust as needed.
